  • Non-Refundable: All workshop seats are non-refundable.

  • If You Need to Cancel: You have three options —

    1. Sell your seat to another photographer (finding a buyer is your responsibility).

    2. Contact us at [email protected] at least 30 days before your workshop to move your seat to another 2026 date/city or to an available 2027 city.

    3. Apply your paid fees as a store credit toward any products, courses, or future workshops offered through AW Teaches.

  • Restrictions: Seats cannot be transferred to 2028 workshops.

  • Late Payment: If your final balance isn’t paid on time, your deposit will be forfeited.

Description

This isn’t a generic photography workshop. This is a full-day, hands-on experience where you’ll leave with a skill set most photographers never develop. That is the ability to recognize, shape, and control light in any situation… without limits. We will take on the streets of Downtown Houston and I am super excited! I know the area well!

By the end of the day, you won’t just “know” lighting theory. You’ll have the confidence to walk into any location, any time of day, and create the exact image you want. You’ll be able to simulate natural light looks with just one light source, blend natural and created light seamlessly, and work in places most photographers would walk right past.

What makes this workshop different?

  • No “paparazzi style” shooting. You get your own dedicated time with the models — no fighting for angles or shots.

  • You’ll see the back of my LCD screen in real time so you know exactly what’s happening before the image is even edited.

  • You’ll work one-on-one with me during your shooting time so we focus on your style, not mine.

  • You’ll capture images you can immediately use for your portfolio, social media, or website.

  • A few weeks later, you’ll get a full recap video. It will include full lighting breakdowns, behind-the-scenes footage, and ALL my complete editing steps so you can revisit every detail anytime.

What will we cover?

In this workshop, we’ll dive into advanced natural lighting techniques and explore how I blend natural and created light for a unique, subtle effect. You’ll learn how to simulate different natural light looks with just one light, no matter the time of day.

The details:

  • Length: Full day, mid-morning to evening (times vary by season; average 10am–7pm)

  • Group Size: Limited to 12 photographers, and there will be absolutely no exceptions.

  • Equipment: All lighting gear and triggers provided. Bring your camera and favorite lenses.

  • Skill Level: Professionals and serious hobbyists welcome. No flash/strobe experience required.

  • Locations: We’ll work in real-world spots, including unconventional places that will sharpen your creative eye.
