Creating Presence
This course is not about editing magic. There was no masking used or needed to achieve the final look.
If you are hoping the final look comes from masking, heavy post-production, or some complicated editing trick, this is not that course.
The magic happens before the edit.
In Creating Presence, I break down how this image was created by combining one flash with carefully found ambient light. The ambient was already doing something special in the scene. It created a pocket of light that looked like a second placed strobe, but it was not. The key was recognizing that light, placing my subject where it worked, and then using flash to marry the subject to the environment.
You will see the BTS video showing how the location actually looked before flash was applied, where the light was placed, the full RAW file before the edit, and the final editing process.
The edit is included, but the edit is not the secret.
The edit is the polish.
The real lesson is learning how to find pockets of light, preserve the background as it was seen, and use flash in a way that makes the subject feel intentional without making the environment feel fake.
