Description

This editing tutorial is a standalone edit pulled directly from The Human Variable course.

It is not about achieving sharpness. The image is already sharp. This is for photographers who are confident in their capture and simply want to see how I edited a large group photographed at f/1.6.

In this tutorial, I walk through my full editing process for a group of eight teenagers, starting with the RAW file and moving through to the final image. You’ll see how I approach color, contrast, skin tones, and balance when working with multiple faces in a single frame, while preserving depth and separation. You will also see light placement as well, and I briefly walk through that.

This edit focuses on maintaining consistency across the group without flattening the image or over-processing. Nothing is added to create sharpness. The edit is about refinement, cohesion, and finishing an image that was already handled correctly at capture.

If you don’t need help with focus, distance, or camera settings and simply want to see how I edit a group shot wide open, this tutorial is for you.

This tutorial will be made available in the VP Box.
