Webinar date and time: February 15, 6pm CST
The webinar will be recorded for those who live abroad or may have a conflicting schedule.
Flash | A Created Light Safe Space is a LIVE WEBINAR designed for photographers who want to understand flash without feeling overwhelmed, talked down to, or out of place.
Flash for the natural light photographer, taught by a natural light photographer.
This room will not be full of people pretending they already know what they’re doing. Everyone who signs up is coming for the same reason… to finally make flash make sense in a calm, supportive environment. The group will be small and capped by design.
If flash has felt confusing, intimidating, or unnecessarily complicated, you’re not alone. Many photographers avoid it not because they lack ability, but because the way flash is usually explained feels rushed, technical, or dismissive. This webinar removes that pressure. You won’t be expected to keep up. You won’t feel behind. And you won’t feel awkward asking questions.
All skill levels are welcome. Whether you’ve never used flash, tried it once and walked away frustrated, or understand the basics but still don’t feel confident using it on location, this space is for you. You’ll be learning alongside people who feel the same way, which means nothing is assumed and nothing goes over your head.
This is a live session, not a pre-recorded class. That matters. You’ll be able to ask questions in real time, hear other people ask the same things you were wondering about, and watch everything explained slowly and intentionally. The goal isn’t to impress. It’s to understand.
We’ll work with simple, repeatable setups using one to two lights, with a heavy emphasis on location lighting. The focus is on balancing flash with ambient light so your images don’t feel artificial or overpowered. Flash becomes a tool that supports how you already see light, not something that replaces it.
This webinar is for photographers who want clarity, confidence, and control… without the ego, noise, or pressure that usually surrounds flash education.
By the end of this live session, you’ll understand:
How flash actually works in plain language, without technical overload
How to balance flash with ambient light so images still feel natural and intentional
How to approach on-location lighting using simple one- and two-light setups
How to control direction, exposure, and mood instead of fighting the light
Real-world examples and techniques you can use
Light placement with and without an assistant. You can definitely use a light stand.
When to use flash, and how to avoid the “flashy” look when you want things to feel as balanced as possible
Which equipment to choose that works best for you. All major brands will be shown, including Westcott, Godox, and Profoto
A live Q&A where you can ask any questions you would like
