Ivy Rose

Most photographers could stand in this exact location and never see this photograph.

And that's really what Ivy Rose is about.

The location itself wasn't extraordinary. What interested me was one small piece of it...the foliage, the depth behind it, the direction I could photograph through it, and what could happen if I placed my subject in exactly the right spot.

In this course, I take you behind the scenes and show you the actual environment I was working with. You'll see how I evaluated the location, where I positioned my subject, how I lit her, and why I chose this particular composition.

But I also show you something I think is equally important.

I show you the photograph I could have created.

It's the more obvious way someone might use this location. There was nothing necessarily wrong with it...I simply saw another opportunity.

I walk you through what caught my attention and why I chose to use only a small portion of the environment instead of allowing the entire location to dictate the photograph.

You'll see how I used the foliage as part of the composition, how I created layers and depth within the frame, how subject placement and lighting helped separate her from the environment, and how all of those decisions worked together before I ever began editing.

Then you'll see the original RAW file and follow my complete hand edit through to the finished image.

Inside the course you'll see:

• BTS video showing the actual location
• The lighting setup and subject placement
• The more obvious composition I chose NOT to use
• What I saw within the location that changed my approach
• How I used foliage to create foreground depth and layering
• How I balanced the subject with the environment
• My complete RAW-to-final edit
• How color and light helped finish the image

Ivy Rose isn't really about this particular bush, model, or location.

It's about recognizing photographic opportunities that other people may walk right past.

Because sometimes creating something different doesn't require finding a better location.

You just have to see more in the one you already have.
