YES, THIS WAS 12 NOON.

These images created a lot of conversation when I originally shared them because many photographers didn’t believe they were captured at 12 noon. The direction of the light and the placement of the shadows didn’t look like what they expected from full sun in the middle of the day.

But they were.

In this tutorial, I pull everything back and show you what was actually happening on location. You’ll see the environment I was working with, where my subject was positioned, what I saw before I pressed the shutter, and how I used the location itself to help shape the light.

Most importantly, you’ll see the RAW file.

This isn’t a lesson built around showing you a finished image and simply explaining what I did. You get to see what actually came out of my camera and how close that RAW file already was to the finished photograph.

I also walk through the complete edit of the close-up image so you can see exactly what happened after capture and, just as importantly, what didn’t need to happen in post.
